10 Commandments 4 Nepali Youth

I have talked enough with the tourists coming into Kathmandu and have asked them what they think about the Nepali Youth and their life style. Most told me that the Nepali youth specially in cities have got hold of the wrong end, copying something that does not work for Nepal, for example fashion and the stuff….. so what should they be doing instead of acting and dressing like they are pretending…… is the perception of what people will see you is so important than solving your basic problems such as getting a job and helping parents!

Please tell us what the Nepali youth should be doing instead of copying western culture that many believe simply does not work for one of the poorest countries in the world!!!!

Here are ten commandments given to me by an American tourist visiting Nepal. He told me to follow these…..

  1. Work. work. and work.
  2. Wear any dress, torn or Nepali!
  3. Stop trying to be an American or others, just be a Nepali
  4. Do anything to make money, don’t wait for the perfect job, any job is a job! Even if you have bachelors degree in commerce or MBA in Business Management, go ahead do something you like and make money, forget about what your friends or neighbors will think of you doing any kind of job you like. what you like is more important than what other like about your stuff!!
  5. Let your mind spend more time with *real studies* rather than politics, avoid politics at school or universities
  6. Forget about what others say about you or your family. Its none of their business, if required tell them so!
  7. Never ask a person about what he/she earns, about his/her religion, and about his/her political views
  8. Respect your teachers and parents. Simply put, they have seen more of this world than you!don”t follow the crowd. be your own person. you were born in Nepal for a reason, the reason is to set an example to bring Nepal upfront not by coping but by your unique character. How you do that is not a matter of time or by style, its by your devotion and perfection and every Nepali can do just that!
  9. Be what you are. be proud to be a Nepali.
  10. Be proud to be of your heritage.

Do you agree with those commandments ?

If yes, Why and

If Not, Why Not ? Discuss. Dump your thoughts / answers…
