Is Game Good For Teens ?

Video gaming systems have taken over the PC gaming platform. It doesn’t take much to notice this. Are all games good for us ? We know that games can help stimulate our brain, even teach us like some educational games.

When it comes to buying games, they aren’t cheaper unless you are looking for older versions such as those 07 of 08 versions.

Games for VISTA requires a pretty powerful machine unless you are playing the online flash games from miniclip or similar sites.

More and more of us are not only watching the web visually like the youtube.com, but also playing games visually. Do you ever think of the first text based dos games ? Well, most DOS games are now for FREE.

There are a lot of free games. Even those who don’t have a penny can play. I’ve listed a few games and their links which you may find interesting. But the topic here really is, is it good or bad ?

Not being a teen, it’s pretty hard to answer the question. But having seen a friend lose his job just because he was a extreme gamoholic–always late at work, slept less, played all kinds of games on platform from Playstation to all. Even he would carry his PSP in his pocket. When a salary/check came, he would have to blow a huge chunk for new games. He also belonged to some sort of game exchange thing where you would sell his old games to get the new ones at a discount. He had a very nice house, a very nice car. Now he is fired and is looking for a job. Is too much gaming really ruined his life ? He is not even a teen, he is in his 30s!

So what about the Teens ?

Teens need to balance a lot. They aren’t just one sided. They have a mix of todos we all know; goto school, do homework, and take part in extras such as sports , arts or simply learning a different language.

Since you are a teen, probably in a high school, it’s okay to be upset when Daddy say’s your “youtube” time is up!

Since you are a teen, it’s okay when your daddy asks you, “you’ve been chatting with friends on youtube and also on yahoo messenger.” Do you have the answer to what kind of chat you are doing ? What kinds of personal information you are sharing ?

I believe a teen, who has a great vision for tomorrow, will balance everything such as gaming, browsing internet for news and education, and doing homework and all that’s on the path to the goal. You can’t just be a book worm and ignore the things that are around you. But how much should you really play ?

A little bit of game, a little of social life, and more towards your goal will surely be the key to a successful life.

Let’s face it, when will MONEY follow you  ?

After you’ve become somebody or nobody ?  Is money important in your life or is your family so well off that you will be the one to heritage it all. Even so, money won’t last for-ever.

Play all you want now and do it all the time, and you could be nobody, or play wiseley and become somebody someday! When I say somebody, i mean a person with good education and a job. Perhaps your dream; a wife, kids, family, and also the fancy car you are just looking right now on magazine. Don’t laugh because I love giving advise. But what is there to read these days on the Internet ?

If i’ve still left more to convince you, followings are from reputed sources, read on.

When games come they come in many forms. Gambling. It’s not impossible to imagine teens playing gambling, specially of the rich family. Here is a link to learn more why Gambling games suck.

A research conducted by a reputed source confirms that nearly all American kids play some sort of games,

  • pewinternet.org/Reports/2008/Teens-Video-Games-and-Civics.aspx
  • Out of 800 (votes as of this date) Nearly 70% of them say games are good for Teens. It’s not a surprising figure, since there are many good games which help them learn, improve memory, and many such including learning to play a game or speak a different language. But spending way too much time on the game can take away your time for other thing such as socializing with friends and family. Example? How about playing a real game once in a while with a REAL friends next door instead of playing FIFA on your PC ? Since a lot of free games are now online, when you are playing too much, you can be classified as an Internet Addict. Are you one of them? Take this test.

Alright, you are probably unhappy that I brought this topic. Be a responsible Teen, rest should be cool on your side. Still waiting ? Here they are, some games you should play, but make a schedule or something. A friend of mine gives about 7 hours of Internet for his grand daugther, and the other one gives full access. Go figure, which one will go further in education.

Free Games

For online, you probably don’t need this article at all. just google, free online games. My choices are:

Play for limited time. Don’t be hooked. Game is good either you are a teen or an adult or elder.

It’s how addictive you are, that makes the difference.

  1. I really think its good as long as its not a very mindless game and as long as you are not playing too much…

It can improve several things with teens, but they should also go outside and play outside as well…

Its not good to overdo many things…

  2. i agree with you. a friend of mine who used to work in a nice store make bunches of money got fired after working for many years simply because he missed work twice in a row. His Habit ? Play all sorts of games, I think he has all XBOX to PSP and he is always the first to get a new game when it comes out ! Hids kids also play with him. It’s sad video gaming has turned his life upside down. Now unemployed, trying to get another job. It still hasn’t worked.

You are right, too much of anything is never good. Would this be same for kids using too much of Internet ?
