What U Want to Be When You Grow Up?

Your Mind! What do you want to be when you grow up?

Don’t you just love that question?

My parents used to bug me with that question all the time when I was little; Temee Vabishya Ma Kaybaney? Doctor Hunay ki Engineer? Police Hunay ki Neeta? Pilot hunay ki Scientist Hunay?

I would reply, ma Khalasi Hunchu ya Bus Driver. My Mum never liked my answer. But I wanted to be a Bus Driver.

Whenever we would travel by bus, I would run towards the bus driver. I would sit on the seat next to him while my parents would be at the back seat probably taking a good nap.

Then, I would go Vru.. Vruum…. Vruum…. Vruuuum.. with my hands in air copying driver’s hands and all the passengers would watch me pretending to be their driver. I remember that passengers enjoyed it.

Here was a kid of 6 years age who was fascinated by bus, steering wheel, and a driver having fun. You would see him all the time with his hands in air and none stop vruum.. vruum in mouth, going to pokhara, butwal, palpa, chitwan, kathmandu, you name it! I bet you anything. If I and my parents were serious, I could have become one of the best Bus Drivers in Asia!

But, Somehow, I have become something else yet I wanted to be a driver, isn’t that strange ?

What do you reply when your Parents ask you such as what do you want to be when you grow up? Well, that is your business and none of ours. Never mind on that question. ok?

But It’s important to think about what you want to be tomorrow. If you like something, love it and study hard to become one. If there is something you like or love since your childhood, stick with it. When you do the job you love, you will be very good at it. It is also important to let your parents know about your likes and dislikes. If they don’t like what you like, it’s their problem, not yours. Be strong!

After you have set your goal, you begin to realize that not only parents come on our way but so does the money. It’s not because we live in a poor country, but because education has always been expensive every where you go, even more so in developed countries such as the United States of America.

For those who have goals in their life and whose determinations are as strong as the iron, every problem pushes them close to the goal.

As you grow, keep working hard and dream big, and work little by little like the tiny ants making their home. As you learn, you might change your course or even set a new goal. Don’t be just one-sided all the time. Leave plenty of options on hand. Slow yet steady and sheer determination will take you there.

Dreaming is free, and it doesn’t cost. So go ahead dream. Those who say you you can’t dream are losers so tell them to go away.

If you want to be big tomorrow, act like one today. Yes! Suppose you want to be a Doctor, act like a Doctor today. That doesn’t mean you are going to a hospital! Laughing Out Loud(LOL). But you could start reading books on health. Do something Doctors would do. Put a white dress and wear it at home. What the heck, surprise your Dad and Mum. Today shapes Tomorrow. Don’t just follow others. Every job is different and unique. Study not just to pass exams but to learn new things. Ask yourself what you are good at. Lead that goodness and You will succeed in life.

Vabishya ma kay banney?

Amalay bhaney ko Hoiena
Baba lay bhaney ko Hoiena
Afulay bhanayko Hunay. That’s right!
You will be what you want to be not because dad told you to be or your mum told you to be but because you want to.

Namastay!

  1. i straight away said that i didn’t want to be a doctor
but being khalasi is kinda similar to me being a travel guide
i too would be meeting new people everyday and guiding them
though it may not be highly paid, it’s what gives me pleasure.
