Rani Pokhari Then And Now

Rani Pokhari Then amd Now

It’s not just that Nepal which was once devastated by a large scale Earth Quake which ruined many building in Kathmandu. Right after the incidence,  Nepal government preserved old heritage sites through continues innovations. which are still carried out even today.

If you’ve been to Kathmandu and have witnessed the Rani Pokhari (a small pond) located at the heart of the Capital, it will tell you it’s own history. We don’t need to get inside the pond nor do we you have to read a lot about it to get to know this pond. During the last major earth quake, many buildings in the Capital got demolished and the Earth Quake took many death tolls. But Nepal Government continues, even today, to rebuild what was lost. Year around, you can read about news on the things such as construction, renovation, etc.

Here are two different photos of the place taken from similar angles at different time.
What are you able to observe and learn from these two photos ; one of which is recent but the other is ancient. How many differences can you spot ? Write them as comment as well as share about what you know about the Earth Quake and also why these two pictures are extremely different.
Hi you all,Here is my project of the week, to show you two different photos of Ranipokhari. … Enjoy it!! Right click on the Image, Select View / Open to View Larger Image

Ghantaphar and Ranipokhari Then (1920) nepal old rani pokhari old and new

Now (August 15, 2006) nepal new rani pokhari

Nepal Rani Pokhari Now

Moral of these two pictures, to me, is that take the time to see things. Do not rush and as for unlucky days such as the Earth Quakes, It is beyond our control. Even in developed countries, predicting Earth Quake is a joke.

This much for now, more will be coming soon with other pictures. Enjoy your life and take the time to see things around you.
